About Simon
Dr. Simon West is a board-certified gynaecological oncologist, accredited robotic surgeon with extensive expertise in the surgical and non-surgical management of gynaecological conditions, ranging from benign disorders to complex cancers. His unique background as a former elite athlete and sports and orthopaedic physiotherapist informs his patient-centred approach, emphasising optimisation of surgical performance and recovery.
Simon began his medical career after earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2012. Following his time as a junior medical officer at Royal North Shore Hospital, he commenced specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2016. He completed general training across multiple hospitals in NSW gaining comprehensive experience in the field. In 2021, he became the inaugural accredited subspecialty fellow at the Northern Sydney Gynaecological Oncology Unit.
After achieving his fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 2022, he continued his sub-specialist training at the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer, working at both the Mater and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospitals. He achieved board certification as a Gynaecological Oncologist in 2024.
